Huadian to close nearly 5GW of small power plant |

BEIJING, February 2 -- As part of the Chinese government's drive to close 50GW of ineffecient small power plant, big-five utility China Huadian (CHD) has committed to close 4,845MW of its small-capacity thermal power plant by 2010. CHD president Cao Peixi signed a letter of responsibility to this effect with National Development and Reform Commission vice chairman Chen Deming at a meeting in Beijing.
