Second Chinese LNG tanker launched, five more coming by 2009 |

SHANGHAI, June 12 -- China has launched its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker in Shanghai - and ship maker Hudong China Ship Manufacturing (Group) Co says it will build five more tankers in the next three years to ease the country's transportation bottleneck for LNG import.
Built at a cost of US$160 million (RMB1.25 billion), the new LNG tanker has a carrying capacity of 147,000m3 meters of LNG.
Last month China's first LNG tanker arrived in the southern port of Shenzhen, carrying 60,000 tonnes (66,000 tons) of LNG from Australia.
The second shipment into Shenzhen - and the formal opening of the Shenzhen LNG terminal - is set for June 27.
